LAKE FOREST, Ill. Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Core Black/White . -- The Chicago Bears arent ruling out an early return for quarterback Jay Cutler from a torn groin muscle that was expected to sideline him for at least four weeks.. Cutler hopes to be back sooner than that. "Thats the goal," he said. Cutler addressed the media Tuesday for the first time since he was injured in a loss at Washington on Oct. 20. The Bears said he would miss at least a month and be evaluated week to week after that. Coach Marc Trestman said that timeline was based on what doctors said is the norm for a player with Cutlers injury. It doesnt mean he cant come back sooner. He also said the doctors will decide when Cutler is ready. "It could happen faster," Trestman said. "Jays optimistic; we all are. But Im not saying were not bringing Jay back for four weeks. Thats what the doctors have said and well work off that timeline. If it happens quicker, that would be great." Trestman did not declare Cutler out for Mondays game at Green Bay but said its "highly unlikely" he would play. "You never want to say never," he said. "I would say its highly unlikely that Jay will be playing on Monday night, but I would not want to make it 100 per cent at this point in time." Assuming Cutler sits out as expected, Josh McCown will start. The Bears host Detroit the following week, and while receiver Brandon Marshall told Chicagos WMVP-AM 1000 on Monday the quarterback would be ready for that game, Cutler grinned when asked about that. "Hes optimistic. And so am I," Cutler said. "So well see how it goes." Cutler got knocked out of the Redskins game early in the second quarter on a sack by Chris Baker. He stayed down for several minutes and limped off the field. Besides Cutler, Chicago also lost Pro Bowl linebacker Lance Briggs to a small fracture in his left shoulder in that game. He was expected to miss about six weeks, leaving the struggling Bears (4-3) without their most important players on offence and defence. Theyve dropped three of four, and after an off week, the schedule isnt exactly taking an easy turn. Stopping Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, not to mention Ndamukong Suh and the Lions, would have been tough enough at full strength. Now, the Bears are trying to keep pace in the NFC North with key pieces missing. Cutler was enjoying his best season in recent memory in his first year under Trestman, but things took a bad turn for him at Washington. He struggled in that game, and when he went down, there was no hiding his agony. "This has been the most significant pain-wise that Ive had," Cutler said. He said hes seeing improvement but wouldnt get into specifics about his recovery or his rehab. Assuming he doesnt make an early comeback, this is the second time in three years that Cutler is missing a significant portion of the season because of an injury. In 2011, a broken thumb kept him out of the final six games and sent the Bears into a freefall that cost general manager Jerry Angelo his job. The groin injury is causing him to miss time in a contract year and could have heavy financial ramifications after the season. "Doesnt matter what year it is, you never want to get injured," Cutler said. For now, he said hes pushing himself as much as he can. He played some catch during Tuesdays practice but did not move around, Trestman said. The Bears believe theyre in a better position to get by without Cutler than they were in 2011 because of the weapons they now have. Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Marshall wasnt around back then, nor were Alshon Jeffery or tight end Martellus Bennett, and running back Matt Forte missed the final four games that year with a knee injury. McCown will have help around him. As for Cutler? "Whenever they give me the green light, were going to go in there rocking and we cant look back," he said. "So whenever that happens, youll see me out there." The 45-year-old Schumacher suffered serious head injuries when he fell and hit the right side of his helmet on a rock in the French resort of Meribel on Dec. 29. The seven-time F1 champion has been in an induced coma in Grenoble University Hospital since then, although his condition stabilized following surgery after initially being described as critical. And now doctors are slowly trying to wake him up. "Michaels sedation is being reduced in order to allow the start of the waking up process which may take a long time," Schumachers manager, Sabine Kehm, said in a statement. One reason for reducing the sedation is to see if the swelling has gone down in the patients brain and to assess what level of functions has been retained. Kehm said she was only providing an update now on Schumachers condition to clarify media leaks, and that no further details would be provided. French newspaper lEquipe first reported on Wednesday that doctors had started waking Schumacher. "The family of Michael Schumacher is again requessting to respect its privacy and the medical secret, and to not disturb the doctors treating Michael in their work," Kehm said. For the protection of the family, it was originally agreed by the interested parties to communicate this information only once this process was consolidated. Please note that no further updates will be given." Schumacher was being kept artificially sedated and his body temperature was lowered to between 34 and 35 degrees Celsius (93.2 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit), to reduce swelling in the brain, reduce its energy consumption and allow it to rest. Schumacher earned universal acclaim for his uncommon and sometimes ruthless driving talent, which led to a record 91 race wins. He retired from Formula One in 2012 after garnering an unmatched seven world titles. Schumi, as his fans affectionately call him, was famously aggressive on the track and no less intense away from driving. In retirement, he remained an avid skydiver, horseback rider, and skier. The accident happened on a family vacation in the Alps as Schumacher was skiing with his 14-year-old son. ' ' '

OAKLAND, Calif. Bruce Sutter Jersey . -- Once Ubaldo Jimenez got through the fifth without allowing a hit, he began thinking back to his no-hitter at Atlanta in April 2010. He couldnt help it. Jimenez walked six batters that day. He carried a no-hit bid into the sixth Saturday night, backed by home runs from Nick Swisher and Michael Bourn as the Cleveland Indians beat the Oakland Athletics 7-1. Jimenez (9-7) didnt allow a hit until Josh Donaldson lined a run-scoring single to shallow centre with two out in the sixth, ending the pitchers night after 105 pitches. He struck out eight and walked five. "Since I got in the fifth inning, it brought a lot of good memories of my no-hitter in Atlanta," Jimenez said. "Especially when I walked six guys in that no-hitter." Asdrubal Cabrera drove in two runs and Michael Brantley hit a pair of doubles for Cleveland. A day after the Indians matched a season high with 13 stranded base runners, they took advantage of timely opportunities. Swisher drove the first pitch from Dan Straily over the right-field fence for his 13th home run, staking Jimenez to an early lead in the first. Cabrera later added a run-scoring single before hitting an RBI double in the sixth. Pitching on six days rest, Jimenez bounced back after taking a 7-2 loss to the Angels on Aug. 10 for his second straight defeat. He hoped he could have talked manager Terry Francona into staying in the game if hed kept the no-hitter going into the seventh. "We established the fastball in the first inning," he said. "Its not like I was wild. I was pretty much close in the strike zone. ... I wanted to get out of the sixth inning without (more) damage." The As drew two walks from the right-hander in each of the third and fourth innings but failed to capitalize. Jimenez plunked Josh Reddick in the right shoulder with one out in the sixth and Rich Hill began warming up in the bullpen. Jimenez walked Yoenis Cespedes on his 101st pitch and received a mound visit from pitching coach Mickey Callaway. Brandon Moss then struck out swinging before Donaldson singled. The As didnt do much more. "Jimenez was at times effectively wild today," As manager Bob Melvin said. "He does have good stuff, he does have a lot of different pitches that you have to worry about. He walked some guys but we couldnt square him up." Coco Crisp flied out as a pinch-hitter with runners on the corners to end the eighth. Bourns seventh-inning drive ended an 0-for-11 stretch for just his second hit in 21 at-bats during the teams road trip. Swisher added an RBI single and Jason Kipnis a two-run single in the ninth as the Indians won for the fifth time in the first six meetings with the As after sweeping a four-game set at home in May. "To put up seven runs on a team like that, thats doing something," Swisher said. "We got a lot of contributions from a lot of guys ... adding on runs every inning and not just getting up early and coasting." Straily (6-7) extended his losing streak to five games. He is winless in six outings since being recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on July 20, though he had received no run support in three of those outings since the All-Star break. He allowed three runs and six hits, struck out seven and matched his season high with four walks over 5 2-3 innings. Straily allowed Swishers one-out homer then struck out Kipnis before allowing back-to-back walks to Carlos Santana and Brantley. Pitching coach Curt Young made a mound visit when he went 2-0 to Cabrera, who then hit an RBI single to snap an 0-for-20 streak. After Drew Stubbs doubled to start the Cleveland fifth, Gold Glove right fielder Reddick started a sensational double play when he caught Bourns liner and made the perfect throw to third to get Stubbs. The sold-out Coliseum crowd of 35,067 booed former As fan favourites Swisher and Jason Giambi whenever they came to the plate. "Thats crazy, man," Swisher said. "Me and G. both. I dont get it, it is what it is." Cespedes went 1 for 3 with a walk on a day fans arrived more than four hours early to get his bobblehead. Notes: The Indians scored in the opening inning for the first time since Aug. 3 at Miami and put up multiple runs in the first for the first time since July 24 at Seattle. ... It was Westbrooks second triple-double in the past three games. He made 10 of 16 shots from the field, both of his 3-pointers and five of his six free throws. Durant, slowed for much of the series, looked like his normal self. The regular-season scoring champion made 12 of 18 field goals and all five of his 3-pointers after struggling from long range throughout the series. Guards Tony Allen and Mike Miller started for the first time in the series in place of Randolph and Tayshaun Prince, and the Grizzlies beat the Thunder at their fast-paced game in the first quarter. Durant hit a 3-pointer to give Oklahoma City a 71-60 lead. Durant hit another 3 that gave Oklahoma City a 78-63 advantage and led to a Memphis timeout. Back-to-back 3s by Derek Fisher and Westbrook and a breakaway dunk by Caron Butler gave the Thunder a 92-76 lead, and Oklahoma City took a 94-81 edge into the fourth quarter. XALAPA, Mexico -- Canadas womens basketball team took another step closer in its quest for a world championship berth. Toronto Blue Jays Shirts . Kendel Ross scored 16 points to lead the undefeated Canadians to an 89-45 rout of Venezuela at the FIBA Americas Championship on Tuesday, assuring themselves a spot in the semifinals. But after three lopsided victories, Canada knows it faces a much tougher test Wednesday in Cuba for top spot in Group A. "They play hard when they need to and when they have a lead, they kind of coast," Canadas coach Lisa Thomaidis said of Cuba. "So we need to have some realistic impression of what theyre going to bring and overestimate what weve seen from them so far." Kim Gaucher, Kia Nurse, and Natalie Achonwa added 12 points apiece for Canada, while Tamara Tatham grabbed a game-high eight rebounds. The world No. 9-ranked Canadians opened the tournament with a 75-37 win over Jamaica, then cruised past Chile 93-51. The 14th-ranked Cubans have won by similarly lopsided scores, while Brazil and Puerto Rico have dominated the other side of the draw. The Canadians shot 47 per cent from the field against Venezuela, outrebounding their opponent 52-25, and outscoring them 16-4 on second-chance points. Still, Thomaidis wasnt pleased with her teams performance. "We just werent very sharp, our offensive precision was not there. We didnt think we brought a lot of defensive energy," Thomaidis said. "Its one of those tough games, the result should be a foregone conclusion. However you still want to maintain that level of intensity and energy heading into our most important game, which is (Wednesday)." The lopsided games have allowed Thomaidis to rotate her roster, giving key players such as Gaucher and guard Shona Thorburn some rest. The team had talked before the tournament began about the importance of maintaining their focus when theyre not playing. "When were on the bench, you have to be engaged, whether youre bringing energy by talking to your teammates or just cheering your teammates on," Ross said. "Thats really what you have to do, you have to stay in the game, you cant just be on the bench kind of looking around wondering whats going on in Mexico. You really have to keep yourself focused and be ready for your number to be called." Canada is gunning for its third straight world championship appearance, and needs to finish top three in Mexico to earn a spot in the 2014 world tournament in Istanbul. Jones (20-1) was originally slated to fight Gustafsson (16-2) but the Swede had to withdraw with a knee injury. But he was reinstated after a civil temporary protection order against him was withdrawn in a Florida Court. The dismissal of the case, along with an independent investigation that was commissioned by the UFC organization, brings closure to this matter for Johnson and allows him to return to competition in the UFC, the UFC said in a statement last week. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Ji-man Choi Rays Jersey . -- Jacksonville Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart got through practice without any setbacks Tuesday. It laid the groundwork for the former Minnesota Vikings backup to make his preseason debut Thursday night at Chicago. Gerhart missed nearly two weeks with a hip flexor injury. He last practiced July 31, sitting out seven training camp sessions, a scrimmage and the teams preseason opener against Tampa Bay. He was back in action Tuesday, working with the first-team offence and ripping off a big run on his first carry during 11-on-11 drills. "It felt good. No issues," Gerhart said. "Got a nice run to start off team run, and everything felt good." Coach Gus Bradley said Gerhart likely will play against the Bears. "Im anticipating, if I hear good reports, hes going to play," Bradley said. Hes going to get in there and were going to get him some reps. It might be four or five carries, something like that to get him going. But Ive just got to wait and see what I find out on the latest report." Gerhart welcomed the work. "Yeah, looking forward to it," he said. "Going back to Chicago. Player there many times. A fun field to play at. But Im more excited about taking the field with the Jaguars for the first time." Jacksonville gave Gerhart a three-year contract worth $10.5 million in March to replace Maurice Jones-Drew. Gerhart spent the last four years backing up All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson in Minnesota, totalling 1,305 yards rushing and five touchdowns. He was expected to be the teams workhorse, but could end up sharing repetitions with journeyman Jordan Todman, former Michigan star Denard Robinson and rookie Storm Johnson. "At some point were going to have to decide how much of a committee is the running back committee going to be," offensive co-ordinator Jedd Fisch said. "Is it a committee of three? Is it a committee of four? Is it a committee of two? ... Toby is going to be the lead dog, so to speak, in terms of carrying the ball off the bat. But as weve said, I dont think anybody in the league gets more than 15 carries for the most part. I mean, one or two guys here and there. "Wed like to be able to carry the ball a lot in the game, so I think a lot of the guys are going to get carries." Gerhart wants as many carries as he can get, especially after playing sparingly behind Peterson. And he would like to find some rhythm behind an unsettled offensive line -- centre Mike Brewster struggled against the Buccaneers, and rookie guard Brandon Linder has been slowed by a sprained foot -- while experiencing full contact. "Its definitely important to get some carries behind them and get a feel for how things are going and to get hit," Gerhart said. "We dont get hit in practice too often. I dont know if we ever get taken down to the ground purposely, so its good to get a few hits in." Tampa Bay Rays Pro Shop .ca. "I dont know what the craze is about, but everybodys just got to chill out. As Carey (Price) said, just chill out." The Canadiens and Subbans camp are set to meet for their arbitration meeting on Friday morning at 9am et in Toronto. The one-year offer from both sides would still make Subban a restricted free agent with arbitration rights next summer. "When it comes to negotiation, I let my agent take care of that," Subban said. "Obviously, Ive been adamant, and Ive repeated it many times - about how I feel about the province, the team and the organization. Its all been consistent. So theres no reason for anybody to think that has changed. "But in terms of a negotiation, this is business now. This is not just about P.K. as a hockey player. This is business between whats best for P.K. and whats best for the organization. And its been mutual respect on both sides." Subban, who signed a two-year deal worth an average annual value of $2.875 million contract prior to the 2012-2013 season, scored 10 goals and added 43 assists in 82 games with the Canadiens in 2013-14. He also added five goals and 14 points in 17 playoff games and was part of the Canadian mens Olympic team that won gold in Sochi in February. Subban was awarded the 2013 Norris Trophy as the NHLs top defenceman after notching 11 goals and 27 assists in 42 games. Drafted in the second round (43rd overall) in 2007, Subban has scored 42 goals and 167 assists in 284 career games. NBA Jerseys . Murray won 6-4, 7-5, 6-3 in more than three hours for a sixth straight victory over Seppi as he kept alive Britains bid to reach the Davis Cup semifinals for the first time since 1981. The match had been suspended Friday night due to fading light, with the British No. 1 leading 6-4, 5-5. When play resumed, Murray immediately broke and then held his serve to take a commanding lead. Seppi appeared to be getting back into the game with an early break in the third set. But the Italian immediately relinquiished his advantage with a double fault to allow Murray to break back. Custom Jerseys. The two-time Grand Slam champion won five games in a row to seal the match. Seppi will rue his missed opportunities in the second set where, after wasting two chances to take a 5-2 lead, he also had four set points saved before a double fault handed Murray the decisive break. Murray will return to the court later Saturday for the doubles match with Colin Fleming against Fabio Fognini and Simone Bolelli. Italy has not lost at home to Britain since 1926 and will be hoping the vociferous home support can help it reach the final four for the first time in 16 years. ' ' '

MONTREAL -- Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard says she had no problem with a controversial question she fielded at last months Australian Open, moments after the biggest win of her career. Wholesake Fake NMD . The 19-year-old from Westmount, Que., had just become the first Canadian to reach a Grand Slam semifinal in 30 years when she was asked by an on-court female interviewer who she would like to date, if she could choose anyone in the world. Many observers quickly deemed the question sexist, with some asking whether a similar query would ever be put to a male athlete. The exchange attracted even more attention because Bouchard, apparently caught off guard by the question, blurted out an unexpected response on live TV: "Um, Justin Bieber?" Her reference to the Canadian pop star seemed to be tongue-in-cheek. Bouchard, who will represent Canada at this weekends Federation Cup in Montreal, said Wednesday she thought the question was all in good fun and she was happy to play along. "I think it was a fine question, you know, I think its entertainment for the fans," Bouchard said when asked at a Fed Cup news conference if she thought the Australian Open question was sexist. "It was actually a fan question, so at the end of the day, its for the fans and, if thats what theyre curious about, well thats fine by me." The No. 19-ranked Bouchard said she might like to know more herself about who, for example, a certain soccer player would want to date. Sometimes, she added, it can be fun to handle questions about something other than tennis because the answers might interest a broader audience. When asked if she thought a male athlete might receive a similar question, Bouchard didnt directly respond, saying the fact shes a younger player might explain why she got such a query. "You know, they wouldnt ask Roger Federer that question -- obviously, hes married and has kids," she said, referring to the 32-year-old Swiss tennis legend. "But I dont know, maybe, I think they should (ask) other single tennis players. Why not?" The question came after Bouchard, who was the 30th seed at the Australian Open, completed a stunning 5-7, 7-5, 6-2 upset of former world No. 1 Ana Ivanovic. The victory made her the first Canadian to reach the semis at a Grand Slam since Carling Bassett-Seguso at the 1984 U.S. Open. Bouchards impressive run in Melbourne came to an end a couple of days later when she lost 6-2, 6-4 to fourth-seeded Li Na of China in the semifinal. But her accomplishments caught the attention of tennis fans in Canada and abroad, including a group of a dozen or so raucous Aussies who became her unofficial cheering section at every match. The group, which dubbed itself the "Genie Army," wore T-shirts that spelled her name, belted out cheers composed just for her and tossed stuffed animals to her on the court following each of her appearances. Bouchard was asked Wednesday about how much things have changed since her emergence at the Australian Open, where some commentators called her next big thing in womens tennis and a potential future Grand Slam tournament champion. "For sure theres been more attention and I think it comes with the job," said Bouchard, who added that more people now recognize her on the street. "It just shows, you know, if you have success on court, youll get attention off the court. But my first priority is tennis and I focus on that and make sure I get everything I need to do done. "And then if theres other attention off the court, well, thats a good thing." Replica Shoes . Hes just beginning to get similar results. "Klubes has pitched to the point where, heck yeah, you better play with confidence," manager Terry Francona said. "Hes one of the best pitchers in the league." Kluber (12-6) continued his dominant stretch by allowing one run over 7 1-3 innings in Monday nights 7-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. Kluber, who hasnt lost since June 30, held the Reds to six hits, struck out seven and walked two in winning his fifth straight decision. "I started out not so great with my command, but I was able to reel it in and had better command in the middle of the game," he said. The only bad news came in the eighth when Klubers 17-inning scoreless streak ended on Brayan Penas RBI double off reliever Nick Hagadone. That also ended the right-handers stretch of not allowing an earned run at 25 innings. Jay Bruce started the eighth with a single. After Todd Frazier struck out, Devin Mesoracos single ended Klubers night after 110 pitches. Francona pulled Kluber, who received a standing ovation from the 18,696 fans. The crowd groaned when Penas hit pushed a run across the plate. "Every starter wants to go deep into the game, but in that situation when it was still close, and my pitch count was up," Kluber said. "I understand." Lonnie Chisenhall hit a three-run homer in the fourth off Alfredo Simon (12-7). Yan Gomes hit a two-run homer in the eighth as Cleveland won its fourth straight. The series between the intrastate rivals features teams trying to remain in playoff contention. The win lifted the Indians (57-55) two games over .500 for the first time since July 22. The Reds are 5-12 since the All-Star break and fell to .500 (56-56). Kluber stopped Seattle on a three-hitter Wednesday and took a perfect game into the seventh inning against Kansas City on July 24 in his previous start, with the Royalls scoring an unearned run in the eighth. Wholesake Fake Yeezy 350. Klubers only loss in his brilliant stretch came in a 1-0 defeat to the Los Angeles Dodgers. "You go through periods where you have things working and even when youre not at your best, youre still good," Francona said. "Thats kind of where Klubes is getting." Michael Brantley added an RBI groundout in the first inning and a run-scoring single in the fifth. John Axford pitched the final 1 2-3 innings for his 10th save. REDS IMPRESSED Cincinnati manager Bryan Price praised Klubers performance. "As advertised," Price said. "I know hes a tremendous pitcher, we all knew that coming in. He did the things that we knew about. Hes very good." TESTING Centre fielder Michael Bourn will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Double-A Akron on Tuesday. He hasnt played since July 5 because of a recurring left hamstring injury. TRAINERS ROOM Reds: Second baseman Brandon Phillips is travelling with the team as he continues to rehab from a torn ligament in his left thumb. Price said Phillips, who hasnt played since July 9, still cant swing a bat. Indians: Designated hitter Nick Swisher is optimistic his strained right wrist wont sideline him for more than a couple of days. "Ive been through stuff like this before," he said. "Its just a little tight." He injured the wrist in his last at-bat Sunday against Texas Yu Darvish. ON DECK Reds: All-Star right-hander Johnny Cueto (12-6) will start Tuesday. He leads the NL in innings pitched (162 2-3) and opponents batting average (.183) and is second in ERA (2.05) and strikeouts (186). Cueto is 3-0 in five career starts against Cleveland. Indians: Right-hander Josh Tomlin (5-7) will be called up from Triple-A Columbus to start Tuesday. He was sent to the minors on July 26. Tomlin hasnt won since pitching a one-hitter on June 28. Hes 1-1 in three career appearances against Cincinnati. ' ' '

TORONTO a€“ The easily erasable whiteboard of the Maple Leafs head coach takes a beating this time of year, but Randy Carlyle has a pretty good idea now of what his final roster will look like for the October 8 opener. Custom Jerseys Nike . In question is whether 26-year-old Matt Frattin will be on it. A a€?mediocrea€? training camp, as Carlyle put it earlier this week, has Frattin lingering nervously on the bubble at the end of the exhibition season, pushed out of a likely job by Brandon Kozun, the small, but feisty winger determined to make the NHL for the first time. Kozun, a former sixth-round draft pick, put a final bullet on that effort with another impressionable performance Friday, which included a highlight-worthy goal, bursts of impressive speed and a couple of assists. a€?Hea€?s playing desperate,a€? said Carlyle of Kozun, who totaled five points in six preseason games. a€?And that is the word to describe it. Hea€?s making life difficult for the opposition and making life easy for coaching staff and management to notice him.a€? Frattin, meanwhile, was held without a single point in the preseason and was unable to distinguish himself much in the preseason finale against Detroit, an open-ice hit on Justin Abdelkader the lone moment of any consequence. He is veering toward the same uncomfortable fate he faced in January 2013 when he was cut at the end of a week-long (lockout-shortened) training camp. Frattin rejoined the Leafs later that winter after a very brief Marlies tour and blazed with seven goals in a 10-game span a€“ though he went the rest of the year without another marker. Now 26, he is coming off a disappointing season. Only two of his 60 shots found twine in 40 games with the Kings and, before long, he found himself in the press box and then eventually shipped to Columbus. He suited up in only four games with the fast-rising Blue Jackets and failed to score before returning to Toronto via trade in the summer. And now a silent preseason has him in danger of failing to make the Leafs roster. Hea€?s had opportunity, including a stint alongside first liners, Tyler Bozak and James van Riemsdyk, but offered little to secure himself a spot in Torontoa€?s crowded forward ranks. a€?[Frattin] has had, I would say, a mediocre camp,a€? Carlyle said earlier this week with some disappointment. a€?[Frattin] needs to find a way to regenerate some enthusiasm. I feel sorry for him right now. The pucka€?s not his friend. Ita€?s going away from him versus bouncing for him. Hea€?s a guy that has to be physical and usually when hea€?s physical goals follow him around.a€? At his best, Frattin can employ his stocky 6-foot frame, decent speed and potent shot to some effect, but hea€?s been quiet in most aspects this fall. He had one of his more noticeable (though still generally quiet) games Friday, his physicality emerging for Carlyle on a night of about 13 minutes. Ita€?s unclear whether that mild final impression will be enough to land him a job on the depths of the roster. a€?Ita€?s building blocks,a€? said Frattin, prior to the 5-1 win. a€?Every day you want to get better and thata€?s something youa€?ve got to do. Just keep working at learning the system and try to get to play your game and reach your potential.a€? One, maybe two, forward jobs are on the line a€“ the Leafs could opt to keep an extra defenceman in light of Cody Fransona€?s injury a€“ amongst a bubble group that likely includes Frattin, Carter Ashton, Frazer McLaren, Colton Orr and William Nylander, the 18-year-old picked eighth overall in June. Orr would seem the likely leader in that race given Carlylea€?s affinity for intimidation, however little used that intimidation may be. Toronto parted with Jerry Da€?Amigo a€“ making a late push for a roster spot in Columbus a€“ and a seventh-round pick to get Frattin back in the offseason and cutting him would mean risk losing him for nothing on waivers. Kozuna€?s spot, meanwhile, is all but locked up. The 24-year-old, who made a positive first impression on Carlyle last year with the Marlies a€“ he was traded to Toronto in late January a€“ has gotten better and better with each day of camp, his comfort and confidence continuing to grow. Any late drop-off, which Carlyle warned of before the game, was nowhere to be seen in 14 impactful minutes against the Wings. Custom Jerseys Adidas . Bell didnt find much running room against an uncharacteristically stingy Atlanta front, but he did reach the end zone twice among 20 carries for 47 yards. He also made five catches for 72 yards and broke Barry Fosters single-season Steelers record for yards from scrimmage with 2,042. Ben Roethlisberger completed 27-of-35 passes for 360 yards, 123 of those going to his favorite target, Antonio Brown. Brown extended his streak of at least five catches and 50 yards to 30 games. If you can get hot and play your best football at the right time, youre a dangerous football team, Roethlisberger said. I dont know if were there yet, but we got a win and were happy about it. With the win, the Steelers (9-5) picked up a crucial game in the tight AFC North race. Cincinnati, which blanked Johnny Manziel and the Browns on Sunday, maintained its half-game lead ahead of Pittsburgh and Baltimore, which took down Jacksonville. Matt Ryan threw for 310 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for the Falcons (5-9), who remain alive in the lowly NFC South. We felt we had lots of chances to have a different outcome, said Falcons coach Mike Smith. Harry Douglas filled in admirably for an injured Julio Jones, making 10 catches for 131 yards. Jones, who was coming off a career-high 259 yards against Green Bay last Monday, was unable to play through a hip pointer injury he suffered late in a loss to the Packers. Roethlisberger completed four of his five passes for 52 yards on Pittsburghs opening touch, but he missed Heath Miller on 3rd-and-5 from the 20. The Steelers settled for a 38-yard Shaun Suisham field goal. Suisham split the uprights again from 38 yards away with two seconds left in the first quarter to cap a 72-yard drive. On the first play of the secoond, Ryan underthrew Douglas. Custom Jerseys. . William Gay jumped the route, came up with his third interception of the season and juked two Falcons on his way to a 52-yard touchdown return. This week didnt start the way that we wanted it to, said Ryan. We had opportunities early on and just missed on a couple. Atlanta got on the board with 4:19 left in the second half, when Ryan floated a ball to the back right corner of the end zone for Devin Hester. His second receiving TD of the year made it 13-7. Browns 28-yard reception near the left pylon in the final minute led to Bells short rushing score that made it 20-7 at halftime. Brown was initially ruled out of bounds, but a lengthy review determined that he got both feet down at the 1-yard line. Atlanta controlled the clock in the third quarter with two lengthy drives but had just two Matt Bryant field goals to show for it. Drives of 70 and 75 yards led to a pair of short kicks. The Falcons were within a touchdown heading into the fourth, but Bells 13- yard TD run down the left sideline 49 seconds into the final stanza gave the Steelers a 27-13 lead. Roddy Whites 4-yard touchdown grab, set up by a 41-yard Douglas pitch-and- catch, had Atlanta again within seven points with just over 10 minutes remaining. The Falcons went three-and-out later in the fourth and Pittsburgh was able to milk the remainder of the clock. On 3rd-and-1 from the Falcons 39 out of the two-minute warning, Roethlisberger used a play fake to get the defense off balance and hit Miller for a 25-yard gain. Roethlisberger kneeled twice to burn the remaining time. Game Notes The Falcons have allowed an NFL-worst 19 rushing touchdowns ... The Steelers are 13-2-1 all-time against Atlanta ... Atlanta fell to 0-8 this season when running 24 or fewer times ... Foster set the previous Steelers franchise record for yards from scrimmage in 1992 ... Both teams went 6-for-11 on third down. ' ' '

LOS ANGELES -- Bermane Stiverne completed his long journey to a heavyweight title with one more punishing victory. Wholesale Vapormax Womens . Stiverne stopped Chris Arreola in the sixth round Saturday night, claiming the WBC heavyweight title belt vacated by Vitali Klitschko. Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs), who was born in Haiti but grew up in Montreal, dropped Arreola twice in the sixth, and he was punishing Arreola again when referee Jack Reiss stopped the fight with 58 seconds left in the round. The Klitschko brothers had held every major heavyweight title for the past six years. Vitalis retirement into Ukrainian politics in December opened the WBC belt for the 35-year-old Stiverne, a late bloomer who hasnt lost in 13 consecutive fights. After beating Arreola by decision last year, Stiverne hadnt fought in nearly 13 months while waiting for Klitschkos decision to retire. The wait was worth it. "I studied and studied," Stiverne said. "I watched my opponent. I knew I could knock him out. ... I was patient. The plan was to let him get comfortable, and he soon as he gets real comfortable, then crack him. And thats what I did." Stiverne dropped Arreola (36-4) for the first time with a sweeping right hand to Arreolas left temple, sending Arreola wobbling and crashing to the canvas. Arreola rose and kept fighting, but Stiverne put him headfirst into the ropes moments later with another combination. After Reiss stopped the fight, Stiverne wept with the WBCs green belt around his shoulder while promoter Don King celebrated at the Galen Center on USCs downtown campus. "I knew it was a wrap," Stiverne said. "The way I trained, I knew I could knock him out because Ive got the power." Stiverne won a lop-sided decision over Arreola last April, breaking Arreolas nose in the third round. Arreola, who acknowledged training poorly for that fight, felt he lost the rematch when he got hit by the same punch that finished the first fight. "He has a tremendous right hand, thats exactly what it was," Arreola said. "I felt like I was winning the fight. He just got me with the same right hand. Couldnt get away from it, and after that, its all she wrote." The well-travelled Stiverne, who fought for Canada as an amateur boxer and trained in Florida earlier in his pro career, worked out of Floyd Mayweathers gym in Las Vegas for this bout. He is the first heavyweight champion of Haitian descent and the first champ not named Klitschko since Samuel Peter, who was stopped by Vitali Klitschko in 2008. Wladimir Klitschko, who holds the other three major heavyweight titles, is eager to claim all four belts by fighting the winner. But before that lucrative bout, Stiverne must fight unbeaten Deontay Wilder, the U.S. Olympic bronze medallist and the WBCs mandatory challenger. "With all due respect, I dont give a damn about Wilder or Klitschko right now," Stiverne said. "Right now, its about what I won." Arreola has lost both of his shots at the WBC heavyweight title, getting pounded by Vitali Klitschko in 2009 just up the street at Staples Center. The Los Angeles-area native was attempting to become the first heavyweight champion of Mexican descent. "I could have got back up plenty of times," Arreola said. "Was the fight stopped a little early? I believe so. But then again, the referee is there to protect me from myself. But I felt like I was winning the fight." Both fighters took advantage of the small 17-by-17-foot ring at the Galen Center, which was hosting its first boxing card. Stiverne landed the biggest shots in the opening round, but Arreola dominated the second and third rounds with a withering series of combinations, trapping Stiverne against the ropes. Stiverne laughed off the punishment and allowed Arreola to keep moving forward, content to counterpunch. "I wasnt hurt," Stiverne said. "He actually punched me, my mouth was open, and he busted my lip. I was trying to find out if there was food or something in my teeth, but it was my lip. He didnt hurt me in the head." Stiverne hasnt lost since July 2007, when he was stopped by Demetrice King. He fought to a majority draw with Charles Davis in 2009, but has stopped five of his last seven opponents. The 34-year-old is in his 14th season in the National Lacrosse League after winning his first championship with the Knighthawks last year. "Im hopeful that – knock on wood – that I can finish my career in Rochester," Self said. "Its a good feeling that they still believe Im a big part of this team going forward." "Scotts a veteran leader and a solid defenseman," Knighthawks assistant coach Jason Johnson said. "Hes a good leader on the floor. Although he may not be as vocal as some of the others, he leads by the way he plays. Hes also an extra man that can take faceoffs, and if you watch him in practice, hes not a bad shooter either." Self is the latest member of the leagues top defence from 2013 to sign a long-term deal with the Knighthawks. Paul Dawson and Mike Kirk each agreed to four-year contracts, while goaltender Matt Vinc signed a five-year deal. Team captain Sid Smith inked a seven-year deal as well. "We built a really solid foundation with our defense back there and hes just another piece that fits in real well," said Selfs younger brother. "Hes obviously a guy who has a lot of experience. Hes been a captain for quite some time in Peterborough. Hes a pretty calming influence, a pretty relaxed guy. Hes a pretty competitive guy and hes really comfortable with the scheme." With contract negotiations now finished, Self can focus on his performance on the turf. He recovered six loose balls and forced a turnover in the season-opening win against Minnesota on December 28th. Through 190 career games, he has scored 43 goals and 124 assists while gathering 946 loose balls. Self is also a three-time All-Star. "I really like our defensive scheme," he said. RIO DE JANEIRO - Like other delayed venues for the beleaguered Rio 2016 Olympics, work on the golf course has fallen behind schedule. Fake Vans Shoes . But grass has been going down for several weeks at the course, which has created an upbeat mood as golf prepares to return to the Olympics after a 112-year absence. That changed Saturday when Rio organizers confirmed that a state prosecutor could halt work on the course unless the developer shows it is following environmental regulations and other requirements under Brazilian law. Rio 2016 spokesman Mario Andrada confirmed the inquiry on Saturday and said developers had been asked to provide documentation that would allow the work to continue. "The state prosecutor is asking for the papers to show the work is proceeding according to the law," Andrada told The Associated Press. "We believe all the rules are being followed." Any delay would be another blow to Rios troubled Olympics. The International Olympic Committee has dispatched a special troubleshooter to accelerate Rios work, and recently IOC vice-president John Coates called Rios preparations were the "worst" in memory. Construction on the privately developed course, located about 25 kilometres (15 miles) west of Rios famous Ipanema and Copacabana beaches, had been delayed by an on-going legal dispute over land ownership, protests by environmentalists centred on the loss of a wetland area, and teething problems for a sport new to Brazil. Plans call for the course to be public after the Olympics, although its being built in a luxury apartment development where units are selling for a minimum of $2.5 million with many priced much, much higher. In a recent interview with AP, American golf architect Gil Hanse said the course should be fully grassed by November, and could be playable midway through 2015. He said it would not be "tournament ready" until a few months before the games begin on Aug. 5, 2016. "I think we are as organized as we have ever been," he said. "Going forward we have to make sure we dont all of a sudden start to rush the finish work. Because ultimately the details of the finished surface are what players are going to see. You need to lavish lots of time and attention on the details of the finished surfaces." Hanse said a test event is likely before the Olympics, although Peter Dawson, head of the International Golf Federation, suggested it might be difficult. The course itself could be dwarfed by whats going up around it in Barra da Tijuca, the site for the Olympic Park and many games venues. Developers plan to build 160 luxury apartments in four 20-story towers overlooking the course. A key player in the project is Italy-born Pasquale Mauro, one of the largest landowners in the Barra area. The opulent marble and glass units — most from 266 square meters (2,850 square feet) to 648 square meters (6,975 square feet) — are selling for between $2.5 and $7 million with completion set for a year after the Olympics end. One building features a 1,308 square-meter (14,100 square feet) penthouse serviced by six elevators, two bedrooms for maids, and one master bedroom for the "governess." The development will have an Italian flavour — called Riserva Golf-Vista Mare Residenziale — and is billed in sales literature as "Rio de Janeiros most exclusive address." Among the amenities are squash and tennis courts, swimming pools in every building, a 50-meter outdoor pool, a golf simulator, ferry service across the lagoon to the sea, a dance studio, gym and a multi-purpose court for basketball or three-man soccer. "Besides the workout academy, there are five massage rooms and a martial arts room to help quell day-to-day tension," the sales literature says. A spokeswoman for the Rio city government, which is supervising the private-sector project, said the course would be public for 10 years after the Olympics. Its not clear how the course will be run after that. Hand-painted signs near the course suggest not everyone is happy. "Golf for Whom?" reads one. The course got other unwanted attention late last year when broad-snooted caimans that survive in a fetid lagoon nearby wandered on the course. The alligator-like creatures took refuge in ponds on the golf course, and are a common sight in the area where population growth has pushed them from a bordering mangrove swamp, which has been polluted with raw sewage from unplanned development in the area. "They seem to be happy to co-exist with us now," Hanse said of the wildlife. "The birds have been back in droves. Ive seen the alligators swimming around, but I actually havent run into them. Its our hope they find this an acceptable habitat." Fake Vans Store .C. - NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick headlines this years electees into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame. Cheap Fake Vans . The Titans made it interesting and nearly came up with another Music City Miracle on the games last play. Delanie Walker took the final lateral to the Jets 9-yard line. Geno Smith completed 16-of-28 passes for 179 yards with one touchdown for the Jets (3-11), who snapped a three-game losing streak. Quarterback Jake Locker made his first start for the Titans (2-12) since Week 5, but left the game late in the second quarter with a left shoulder injury. Locker started because rookie Zach Mettenberger re-injured his right shoulder last week. Charlie Whitehurst replaced Locker and was 10-of-24 for 203 yards in his first action since Week 7. Tennessee has dropped eight in a row, the clubs longest skid since the 1994 Houston Oilers lost 11 straight. Ryan Succop nailed a 51-yard field goal to give the Titans an 11-10 lead with 2:02 left in the third quarter. After a series of punts, the Jets marched 76 yards for the go-ahead score. An unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on a third-down incompletion kept the drive alive. If not for the penalty, New York was looking at a three-and-out. Chris Johnson, who spent his first six seasons with the Titans, then ran for a 37-yard gain on a direct snap, setting up a 1st-and-goal at the 4-yard line. Smith threw incomplete on third down, but cornerback Coty Sensabaugh was flagged for pass interference. Ivory ran into the end zone on the next play. The Jets went for two and Jeremy Kerley dropped a pass. Succop kickked a 40-yarder to open the scoring with 3:16 remaining in the first quarter. Fake Vans Slip-on. The Titans added to their lead when Smith was flagged for intentional grounding in the end zone. Smith was initially ruled to have fumbled the ball while being dragged down by defensive tackle Jurrell Casey, with center Nick Mangold making the recovery at the New York 6-yard line. Tennessee challenged the play and it was reversed by a review. Later in the game, Casey hit Smith in the helmet during a TV timeout, setting off a melee. Leon Washington muffed the free kick and T.J. Graham recovered the ball for the Jets at the Tennessee 40-yard line. New York came away with no points off the turnover as Nick Folk hit the crossbar on a 53-yard field goal attempt. Folk did make a 51-yard try with 2:08 remaining in the second quarter. After Succop made a 33-yarder, Smith hooked up with Eric Decker for what appeared to be an 81-yard touchdown on the first play of the ensuing possession. A brawl broke out between the teams during the review. Players were jawing at one another and Casey punched Smith. The touchdown wound up being wiped out because Decker stepped out of bounds at the Tennessee 33-yard line. Casey was hit with an unnecessary roughness penalty, moving the ball to the 18. The Jets grabbed a 10-8 lead when Smith found John Conner on 4th-and-1 for a 9-yard touchdown. Game Notes This marked the third consecutive season in which the teams met at LP Field ... Decker had 100 yards on seven receptions ... The Jets were 2-for-13 on third down ... The Titans outgained the Jets 342-277. ' ' '

SACRAMENTO, Calif. Nike Vapormax Scontate . -- DeMarcus Cousins did something Sunday hes not usually known for: lots of smiling. The often-scowling Cousins had 32 points and 12 rebounds, and Isaiah Thomas had 30 points and eight assists in the Kings 124-107 victory that sent the Milwaukee Bucks to their seventh straight loss. Cousins has shown increasing maturity over the last 13 games since he was called for technical fouls Nos. 14 and 15 of the season and ejected in a Feb. 25 loss at home to Houston. That left Cousins one technical from a mandatory one-game suspension. But the emotional Cousins has put a halt to complaining to referees and hasnt drawn another technical. Against the Bucks, he was clearly enjoying a big margin of victory, a rarity this season for the Kings. "Its always fun to win," said Cousins, who dodged a question about any new-found approach to the game. "My focus is going out and winning." Different approach or not, Cousins clearly had his way with the Bucks. Scoring in a variety of ways, he had 14 points in the first quarter and 21 by halftime. The Bucks were never able to contain the talented Kings centre. Cousins made 14 of 19 shots, four of six free throws and added four assists and two steals. "Now I see where he is bringing it more (upcourt) on the dribble after the rebound," Bucks coach Larry Drew said. "I was mad at my guys for not getting in his way, but you can see he looks comfortable doing it. Its just the matter of him being under control and it looks like he is and making the right plays out of it." The Kings demonstrated early they would not be overlooking the struggling Bucks. Sacramento led by 23 points after one quarter, took a 70-44 lead into halftime, and were ahead by 34 points after three quarters. "We cant go out there and lay down. Im not saying we did that tonight," Drew said. "This is one of the few games we came out and laid an egg at the very beginning. Weve actually been playing some pretty good basketball." Rudy Gay had 24 points and eight rebounds and Ben McLemore scored 15 points for the Kings, who had dropped four of their past five home games against the Bucks. O.J. Mayo scored 13 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter for Milwaukee. Mayo consistently connected from the outside and the Bucks shot 75 per cent in the fourth quarter in outscoring the Kings 37-20. "I told our guys that any win in the NBA is something to be happy about, but I just didnt like how we played in the second half," Kings coach Michael Malone said. "We gave up 63 points, they shot 64 per cent from the field in the second half. We had no discipline." Ersan Ilyasova had 14 points and Jeff Adrien and Ramon Sessions each added 13 for Milwaukee. Brandon Knight came in averaging 20.1 points in March, but the Milwaukee guard missed his first seven shots and finished 2-of-12 and had six points and seven assists. Milwaukee (13-57) has dropped 10 of 11 games overall. The Bucks have won only eight home games and have lost eight straight and 18 of 19 on the road, dating to Jan. 2. Their lone road win in that stretch was Feb. 24 against Philadelphia, another struggling team. Milwaukee will need to reverse the losing trend quickly if it hopes to avoid a franchise-worst season. The 1993-94 Bucks had a 20-62 record. Thomas scored 14 points and Cousins had 11 in the third quarter. Sacramento went over the 100-point mark on Thomas 3-pointer at the 2:35 mark and was in front 104-70 after three quarters. The Kings came out a little sluggish in the third quarter, but seemed to get inspired after Cousins grabbed a rebound and dribbled the length of the court and finished with a resounding dunk. The basket ignited a 16-3 run that put the Kings ahead 90-57. NOTES: Bucks rookie guard Nate Wolters fractured his left hand Thursday against Golden State and will miss the final 13 games. ... Royce White played his second straight game for the Kings, getting in for the final 48 seconds. ... The Bucks shot 27 per cent in the opening quarter and 35 per cent in the first half. ... Mayo had not played in the previous six games. Air Max Shop Italia Recensioni . “Im not sure well get Melky Cabrera at all,” said Gibbons. The 30-year-old Texas native was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 20th round of the 2001 amateur draft. Duke spent six years in Pittsburgh and also had stints with Arizona, Washington and Cincinnati. There is something remarkably special about the two small words placed back-to-back. World Cup. It draws a wide audience from afar with eyes becoming fixed on it that would more often than not be drawn to distraction if it were called something else. That is why many sports have a World Cup rather than calling it the World Trophy or World Championships of Football, for example. Many sports across the globe have enjoyed the World Cup bump and the most popular of them is all is no different. The next phase of this starts Saturday right here in Canada when a third important word is added. World Cup draw. The draw for the Womens World Cup in Ottawa on Saturday is the start of the legacy that will be the 2015 World Cup in Canada. A legacy that can last beyond a lifetime. Of course, the draw itself is incredibly important for all 24 teams that are involved and it will create plenty of permutations once it is complete but the draw is much more magical than just that. Ticket holders across Canada and the world will watch the draw very differently than everyone else. These are the lucky ones. Having already signed up to play a part in the motion picture they now get to see which stars they will be with. Right now ticket holders in Winnipeg, for example, will be looking at their ticket purchases and anxiously wondering which teams will be slotted in Group D and, therefore, based in the city to play each of their first two group games. Likewise, for Edmonton with Group A, Ottawa in Group B, Vancouver in Group C, Montreal in Group E and Moncton in Group F. Major tournaments like the World Cup are about much more than what happens on the field. The majority of the players and staff of the countries will be visiting these cities for the first time and will get a thorough look at what makes Canada so great. Canadians across the country can play a massive part in that as well. At the 1996 European Championships in England, the Czech Republic team were based in my home city following the draw. They lived amongst us for the best part of three weeks as they went on a magical run to the final. Having interacted with the locals in around the area when training or eating out, for example, they had captured the hearts of many. The same will happen in Canada next summer. The majority of the ticket holders will never have seen most of the countries play before and wont know many of their players at the moment. Saturdays draw (live on TSN1, TSN3 and TSN4 at Noon et/9am pt) is the first step in that process. Memories will be created next summer and after the draw you will know which teams will fuel those memories. When you talk to people about their past World Cup experiences many of the stories begin on the draw date when they discovered who they would watch. For such an important event the draw can often frustrate in how it is delivered. Watchiing the show that is the FIFA World Cup draw is the opposite of attending a friends wedding. Scarpe Lebron James 2019. Often youll show your face for the important part, the ceremony when key words are exchanged, but really you cant wait for the music, speeches and party afterwards. The World Cup draw gives you all of that first but most fans just cannot wait for the draw itself to take place when the true key words are delivered. After shouting terms such as get on with it for the best part of an hour, FIFA then cruelly does exactly that and by the time the draw starts it is like watching it on fast forward with names being allocated into slots quicker than you have time to write them down. To enjoy it you are best to do a little preparation. If you have tickets or plans to attend certain games in the tournament you can see now which teams will fill those slots before the draw takes place. I had that experience as a fan at the 2006 Mens World Cup and it is a great feeling to see who you have tickets to watch. The second thing to keep an eye on is who will be grouped with Canada. Canada is the only team that has been secured a slot in the draw, placed as A1 being that they are the hosts. John Herdmans team will play their first two games of the group in Edmonton, including the first on the opening day of the tournament, Saturday June 6. They finish the group in Montreal nine days later. Being seeded means they will be one of the favourites to win the group but there will be tough teams in pot two that they will be looking to avoid. In case Canada finish second in the group keep an eye out for whoever is placed in Group C. It is one thing for Canada to be given a difficult group but if C is seen as one of the weakest this could help Herdmans side in the knockout stages. If they take that route look to see who get seeded in Group D as they would be the likely quarterfinal opponents. USA, Japan and Germany will come to Canada as the true favourites to lift the World Cup. Canadians may be hoping none of those teams are given D1 but that is the seed spot those teams will want. Unlike the Mens World Cup, with 24 teams featured, there are only six seeded teams to top groups at the draw but four are less favourable than A1 and D1 as a quarter final match awaits against a group winner in all of the other groups. The winners of Groups A and D not only play a team that finished third in the last 16 but also a group runner up in the last eight. In other words, should Canada win the group they will likely avoid bigger obstacles that will face many of their opponents and wont meet a group winner (C or E winners, should they progress) into the semifinals. There is much work to be done before then but following the tournament on paper is about to get even more fun starting with the draw. Grab a pen and begin the exciting journey with us on TSN starting Saturday. ' ' '

This weekend sports in Ottawa will feel different. Custom Air Max 97 Plus . Both when the CFL’s Redblacks host the Montreal Alouettes on Friday night - just a few short minutes from where an armed gunman rained chaos on the city Wednesday - and then again when the NHL’s Senators host the New Jersey Devils in suburban Kanata. It’s not the games themselves that are going to feel different. It will be the aura around them, the feel in the stands as they begin to fill up, the singing of “O Canada”, which will be sung with a little more belief, conviction and pride. There are of course the first sporting events since the attacks this week, when the National War Memorial became a crime scene and the Parliament Buildings the subject of terrorist-minded attack. As Jeff Hunt the president of the Ottawa Redblacks said earlier this week, hosting a game Friday night gives his organization, the honour, the power and the responsibility to help lead the healing process. An assault on such symbolic places, in a city that often feels more like a large village, cuts deep. Virtually everyone in Ottawa would know somebody who was in the parliament buildings, or nearby when the chaos erupted. Virtually everyone will be in some way affected. There aren’t a lot of ways to find comfort by sharing that pain, or ways to begin the healing process alongside others similarly affected, which is why sports will play an important role in the return to normalcy for people in Ottawa. Not because it can allow people to take their minds off of what’s occurred, but because it gives them a chance to band together in a unified voice, to express their determination to remain united in the face of threat. It’s also a way to remind ourselves that the world is still mostly a safe place; that it’s okay to be among crowds without feeling threatened by the thought about who might be lurking among us with the worst of intentions. Ask anyone who attending the first week of NFL games after 9/11 about what that felt like. Or anyone who attended a sporting event in Boston after that city was hit by a terrorist threat at the Marathon. Some people wondered if the city would ever feel the same, if going to sporting events would feel like it used to, a place to laugh and cheer and lose yourself in the magnificent distraction of it all. What the Bruins’ run to the Stanley Cup final and the Red Sox road to the World Series title proved was that people were in fact not afraid to gather in public, that standing as one behind your team as a community had a cathartic quality to it. That’s what the people in Ottawa will experience Friday and Saturday night - strengthened by the opportunity to share with each other their determination to remain strong. Watch the Alouettes vs. Redblacks live tonight on TSN1, TSN4 and TSN5 starting at 6:30pm et/3:30pm pt. Keenum will make his first appearance in a regular-season game against the rugged defence of the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium, where the fans just set a Guinness record as the noisiest outdoor stadium in the world. So be it: Keenum will start for Matt Schaub, who is out dealing with injuries to his right ankle and foot, and will try to help the Houston Texans snap a four-game losing streak. "Were struggling, and were looking for a spark," coach Gary Kubiak said. "I think he deserves an opportunity to go out there. Its a tough place to play. Its a tough place to get your first start and all that good stuff. But Im not sending him out there by himself. Im sending him out there with his football team and the guys understand that." Keenum was a record-setting quarterback at the University of Houston before spending last season on the practice squad. The undrafted free agent has played in several preseason games, but hasnt played in a game that counted since leading the Cougars to a 30-14 win over Penn State in the TicketCity Bowl on Jan. 2, 2012. Keenum said he prepares for practice and preseason games the same way he got ready for games in his college career, so nothing will change for him this week. "It means just as much to me every rep I take, but obviously the games are definitely different," he said. "I guess I can officially say this is the best NFL defence Ive ever played, so this is going to be a big test." The Texans (2-4) have been hurt by penalties, turnovers and other mistakes during their skid. Kubiak chose to go with Keenum over backup T.J. Yates, who led Houston to its first playoff win two years ago when Schaub was hurt. He struggled Sunday after Schaub was injured, throwing two interceptions, the first of which was returned for a touchdown. Now theyll look to Keenum to help them get back on track. He isnt daunted by the cchallenge and is used to being the underdog. Wholesale Air Max 720. He said that people have doubted him his entire life. "Ive had a lot of people tell me I cant do a lot of things. Im too short or this or that, but you cant believe a lot of that stuff," said the 6-foot-1 Keenum. "You just have to be given an opportunity and you have to be ready when you get that opportunity." Keenum joked about his height several times on Thursday, but the best quip came when he was asked if its difficult to see over the much taller defensive linemen in the NFL. "Its different, but my receivers are taller so I can see them -- and theyre faster," he said. "Ive tried to grow, but I think Im done." In college, Keenum tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the third game of the 2010 season. Houston appealed for a medical redshirt and Keenum was granted one more season to take aim at the NCAAs career passing records with the teams ultra-quick offence. He led the Cougars to a 12-0 start in 2011 before a loss in the Conference USA championship game. He left Houston as the NCAAs all-time leader in career total yards (20,114), yards passing (19,217), passing touchdowns (155) and total touchdowns (178). Now hell face a defence which is allowing a NFL-best 10.8 points a game, leads the league with 30 sacks and has forced 12 more turnovers this season than their opponents, which also tops the league. "We just want him to go out there and react," Kubiak said. "Thats the reason hes on this team because of what hes capable of doing when he gets in those situations. Hell get ready to do his part and everybody needs to do theirs." Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin, who coached Keenum at the University of Houston, said he Keenum will be "extremely prepared" and that he expects him to play well on Sunday. Keenums teammates also expressed confidence in him on Thursday. Receiver Andre Johnson raved about the quarterback. "Case just has sort of like an aura about him," Johnson said. "When hes out there, hes real excited, having fun." ' ' '

SALVADOR, Brazil -- Bosnia-Herzegovina ended Irans hopes of advancing to the knockout stages with a 3-1 victory in Group F on Wednesday, registering its first World Cup win in the process. Lewis Thorpe Twins Jersey . The Bosnians, who were already relegated from the tournament, took a commanding 2-0 lead with goals from Edin Dzeko in the 23rd and Miralem Pjanic in the 53rd before Iran hit back in a desperate late bid to qualify for the second round. Reza Ghoochannejhad gave some hope to the Iranians with a tap-in goal in the 81st, but Avdija Vrsaljevic replied immediately with his low shot from the edge of the area to restore the two-goal lead. Iran needed a win to have any chance of advancing. "Sorry to our opponents, but this was also an important win for us so we could hold our heads up high leaving this tournament," Bosnia-Herzegovina coach Safet Susic said. "Throughout the match we were those who wanted to win more." The Bosnians were already out of contention at their first World Cup following consecutive losses to Argentina and Nigeria. Iran coach Carlos Queiroz brought in strikers Khosro Heydari and Karim Ansari Fard in the second half but the shift in system only netted one goal. Playing at its fourth World Cup, the Iran squad faced criticism for its dour defensive tactics after a 0-0 draw against Nigeria. The Iranians also spent much of their game against Argentina packing the defence, but created several chances on counterattacks and nearly caused a major upset before conceding a late winner by Lionel Messi. "I was a bit surprised by Iran, they needed a win and they were calculating," Susic said. "That backfired for them. Maybe they could not change their habits." Queiroz said he could not change the defensive style with the players he had available. "Susic has his opinion," Queiroz said. "The next time I will give him the opportunity to train Iran and Ill train Bosnia, and we will see." "He has players who play in Roma and Manchester City, and whom do I have?" he asked, referring to Pjanic and Dzeko and Iranian players who mostly play in Iranian and smaller European clubs. "You squeeze an orange and then you see that you have players who cannot be squeezed no more," he said. "We played to the limits of our mental and physical capacities, and Im very proud of my players," Queiroz said. Bosnia created most of the chances in the match, with Dzeko -- criticized for missing several opportunities during Bosnias earlier two matches -- firing a volley over the bar in the third minute, and then heading straight at the Iran goalkeeper from close range. He opened the scoring in the 23rd with a low shot from 20 yards (meters) that deflected in off the post. Pjanic doubled the lead a half hour later with an angled shot from inside the box. Irans only genuine chances came after its only goal of the tournament came in the last frantic minutes, with Ghoochannejhads close-range shot narrowly missing late. Queiroz said he believes that Bosnia was the best team in the group. "The best team of the group did not qualify, with all my respects to Argentina and Nigeria," he said. "Today, they played on another level." Asmir Begovic, who made 11 appearances for Canadas under-20 team, started in goal for Bosnia. "So happy to finished off our World Cup with a win!" Begovic tweeted sfter the match. "Congratulations to everybody on out 1st ever win at the World Cup! Thanks for the support." ------ Lineups: Bosnia-Herzegovina: Asmir Begovic; Toni Sunjic, Emir Spahic, Sead Kolasinac; Avdija Vrsajevic, Anel Hadzic (Ognjen Vranjes, 61st), Miralem Pjanic, Muhamed Besic, Tino-Sven Susic (Sejad Salihovic, 79th); Edin Dzeko (Edin Visca, 84th), Vedad Ibisevic.
